In September 26 of 2011, Allegro Academy began operating its own solar station. The installation was provided by Illinois Clean Energy Educational Foundation and Solar Star Foundation, and it is primarily used as a teaching tool. Students study data outputs, and also showcase what they’ve learned at community based events. Allegro Academy students participate in outreach events, and help the community understand how solar energy works. Having students learn about solar energy at such a young age is both an example to their peers and members of the community of what clean energy in action is all about. Allegro Academy is incorporating solar studies into a number of classes across various disciplines.
