JEFFERSON MIDDLE SCHOOL
In November 21 of 2012, Jefferson Middle School Champaign CUSD #4 began operating its own solar station. The installation was provided by Wilcox Electric & Service and Solar Star Foundation, and it is primarily used as a teaching tool. Students study data outputs, and also showcase what they’ve learned at community-based events. Jefferson Middle School Champaign CUSD #4 students participate in outreach events, and help the community understand how solar energy works. Having students learn about solar energy at such a young age is both an example to their peers and members of the community of what clean energy in action is all about. Jefferson Middle School Champaign CUSD #4 is incorporating solar studies into a number of classes across various disciplines.
